SPORTS MASSAGE
Helps the body recover from the stresses of strenuous exercise. The benefits include improved blood and lymph circulation, muscle relaxation. These, in turn, lead to the removal of waste products and better cell nutrition, normalization and greater elasticity of tissues, deactivation of trigger points, and faster healing of injuries. It all adds up to relief from soreness and stiffness, better flexibility, and less potential for future injury.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.
Purpose of Sports Massage?
The main purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. The massage will help prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether a person is an athlete or a once a week jogger.
Types of Techniques?
Depending on the needs of the athlete, a variety of techniques are used. The technique often involves a blend of traditional Swedish Massage and Shiatsu specifically designed to treat professional athletes.
Each type of sport has different demands on the players. Each sport uses muscle groups in a different way. Sports massage is designed to address those specific concerns and may differ according to the sport the athlete plays. Sports massage can be aimed to help heal strained muscles and allow healthy ones to reach peak performance and maintain it while minimizing the risk of injury.
Benefits of Sports Massage?
Sports massage has many benefits. In addition to FEELING GOOD, sports massage reduces the heart rate and blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, reduces muscle tension, improves flexibility, and relieves pain. Each sport and athletic event uses muscle groups in a different way. Sports Massage can also include pre-event, post-event and maintenance techniques that promote greater athletic endurance and performance, lessen chances of injury and reduce recovery time.
What to expect before your massage
Once you arrive for your massage session, I will begin by conducting a short consultation, detailing your personal health so that I will know if there are any contraindications, or reasons that massage may not be advisable. After acquainting you with the massage room, I will leave to allow you privacy to undress and lay between the towels on the massage couch.
During the massage
You will be modestly draped at all times. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. A full body massage consists of massage to the hands, arms, feet, legs, stomach, upper chest, shoulders, neck, and back.
What to expect after your massage
After the massage is complete, I will leave the room to allow you privacy to redress. Dangle your feet off the side of the massage couch for a minute or two before attempting to stand, as massage promotes the release of toxins from body tissues. Upon return, I will bring you a glass of water, as it is very important to drink lots of water after the massage to help flush toxins out of your system. We can then discuss how you are feeling after your treatment followed by some aftercare advice.
The cup massage procedure is a simple treatment that gives impressive results. A cup massage helps release the rigid soft tissue through negative pressure and suction, it also helps drain off excess toxins and fluids your body may be retaining, it can help to loosen adhesions and lift the connective tissues.
CUPPING MASSAGE, works great in combination with Deep Tissue

The most common area for cup massage is usually the back. Larger cups make a strong vacuum that copies rolling action of getting a deep tissue massage. Your skin will turn red, this shows that circulation is being brought to the skins surface.
Benefits of Cup Massage are: loosening tight muscles, relaxing the body, chronic pains, lowers blood pressure, enhances skin tone, provides a peaceful & restful sleep, improves concentration, strengthens your immune system, energetically deficinet, ill, or frail, virial or bacterial chest infections, increases range of motion & flexibility, relieves tired & aching muscles. Effective in treating the unsightly problems of cellulite. Problems with a stiff neck? The cup massage soothes away neck tension by using a deep, slow approach with the use of smaller cups.

BODYWORK MASSAGE
What is Bodywork massage?
Using a combination of Western (Swedish & Deep Tissue) and Eastern Techniques (Thai & Acupressure Points) and energy healing. Bodywork massage is used to release chronic muscle tension, loosen muscle tissues, release toxins, eliminate scar tissue, and get the blood and oxygen circulating properly, through slow strokes and deep pressure or friction. When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins. Each session can be tailored to the individual depending on their requirements.

Specific BODYWORK (combination of techniques)
Perfect for the individual who seeks a muscle intensive massage. This massage concentrates more on specific areas of the body. Ideal to help relieve discomfort or pain to affected muscle groups or an areas. This technique is great for someone who has a recurring area of the body that needs special attention and relief.
During your massage
I typically begin with lighter movements to analyze your muscles and tissues and to determine which areas may require greater attention. Afterwards I like to provide you with some stretching tips.

DRY NEEDLING
Dry Needling is a very successful medical treatment which uses very thin needles without any medication (a dry needle) to achieve its aim. Dry Needling is used to treat pain and dysfunction caused by muscle problems, sinus trouble, headaches, and some nerve problems. It is not at all the same as acupuncture. Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, whereas dry needling is a western medicine technique, which needs to have a medical diagnosis. There is a clear scientific understanding of dry needling, and it carries not spiritual “baggage” as acupuncture may do.
DN can be done as a separate treatments, but mostly combined with a combination of Deep Tissue and Cupping.
